MRSPSFIsol

Tool for the isolation of JWST/MIRI and JWST/NIRSpec data cubes.

Details on the tool at our paper. It can be downloaed here

Here is the link to download the current version (version March 2026; 590MB)

How to use it:

It is a python set of routines launched from shell script. It requires common python packages like numpy, math, matplotlib, etc. Write in your bash/cshell:

export MRSPSFISOLPATH=/PATHTO/mrspsfisol_v1
alias mrspsfisol=’csh ${MRSPSFISOLPATH}/MRSPSFisol.csh’

to ask for instructions on how to run it:

mrspsfisol -h

There are two ways to run this code:

Mode 1: save a file with the following information:
OBJNAME OBSID(MIRI) OBSNUMER(TARGET MIRI) OBSNUMBER (BACK MIRI) OBSID(NIRSpec) OBSNUMER (NIRSPEC) RA DEC REDSHIFT
e.g.: NGC3081 01670 011 005 05017 005 149.8731682 -22.8263423 0.008149

Mode 2: skip the name of the file and this info will be collected interactivelly.
note that OBSID should have 5 numbers and OBSNUMBER should have 3 numbers
to skip NIR or MIR write – for each number. e.g.: NGC3081 01670 011 005 —– — 149.8731682 -22.8263423 0.00814

Data will be downloaded if public. Otherwise uncal files should be placed at DATA/OBJNAME/OBSID/ for NIRSpec or at MIRIDATA/OBJNAME/OBSID/ for MIRI/IFU. Note that if you prefer to use your own calibrated files, the filenames should be matched carefully to go to the decomposition step (not recommended). The decomposition assumes a data cube for each channel and band at MIRI: ch1-short; ch1-medium; …. Final extraction only for general visualization. It assumes that you have either MIRI or MIRI+NIRSpec. It won’t work for NIRSpec alone.
